Derek and I have now been married for a total of two months and 14 days... Anyway, its kind of crazy because its felt like we've been married for a lot longer than that. The last month and a half or so have been a nice long "honeymoon" for us because Derek has been on hold with his classes for flight school. And I must admit its been really nice to be together since he was gone for four months before we got married. But soon that will all change... As of right now, he will be starting his actual classes where he will learn to fly January 9th. Also, we are both hoping that I will have some job/any job at that point as well. So married life as we know it will be changing quickly. We have had fun on our break together while its lasted and honestly we are so grateful for the time we've had just to be together. But, lets be honest its not normal for the both of us to be home all day, every day and reality will soon to kick in.
We went home to visit my family in Utah during the Thanksgiving holiday. While we were there we also spent our time "visiting half of Utah" as Derek has said. :) So many of my friends feel like they didn't get enough time getting to know Derek so our 10 days out there booked up pretty fast. We had dinner with our friends Melanie & Dave, dinner at our friend Allison's in Springville with her, her roommate & of course her Fiance Kyle(they will be getting married Jan. 17th), Game night with friends at my sisters house, Lunch with Amy & Misha, and not to mention a wonderful Thanksgiving dinner hosted by my sister Carrie... and the list goes on. We were also grateful for the time we got to spend with Allison Wesel (Derek's sister). We were able to come see her 3rd Grade class put on a Thanksgiving Play for us and the other third graders (we really enjoyed it, and when I get my camera back from Utah I will be posting those pictures).
On December 23rd we will be heading out to Washington State to spend Christmas with the Wesel Family. We are excited to spend more time with them. I have only really been with Derek's parents one other time before the wedding, so it will be a wonderful and needed trip (Heck they have to approve of me sometime, even though its too late now). :) Although, I must add that from day one of meeting his parents it already felt like I was a part of the family so I don't think we will have a problems. ;)
Well, we are grateful for all that we've been given. Married life is treating us well. We have been blessed to be part of a wonderful LDS ward here in Alabama that has made us feel so welcomed and loved. We hope you all have a wonderful and Merry Christmas!!
Love,
Derek & Penny
