WE WERE SOOO EXCITED THAT WE CAME HOME AND OPENED EACH BOX TO TRY A LITTLE BIT OF EACH ONE! :) OH HOW SWEET THE SIMPLE THINGS IN LIFE CAN BE.

That is awesome! :) Was it the commissary that was having a good deal? They usually once in a while come out with great deals on cereal. One way we have learned to save money, and you might already do this but I make a menu every week and stick to that menu when I go grocery shopping, I TRY not to buy anything extra. Also I don't bring Nate to the store with me either or else we end up with a bigger grocery bill.
Seeing that I hate spending money on food, my advice is to not buy it (but then your hubby might complain that the fridge is empty..)I find that if I stick with basics it goes farther (and tastes better) than pre-made food. Unless its ice cream then buy it from the store :) Honestly I have no advice except I seem to buy things, and forget I have it and then it goes bad. So don't do that. That's my advice. Does that help?
This post made me smile! I can only imagine the joy you two experienced together as you were able to eat the inexpensive cereal. We started saving money by not eating out, but not buying cereal hadn't even crossed our minds as an option. That's what I have for my 4 pm snack! In other words, you two are advanced savers compared to us! Good luck, though.
Now wait a minute. DEREK is not eating cereal? Wow, if I didn't know the sad state of the world and the economy, I surely know it now.
Clip coupons and only use them when that particular item is also on sale at the store. I buy produce at a local Latin market and get things like 5 lbs of apples for .99 and 9 lbs of onions for .99... its amazing! Sounds like a lot of produce, but I steam, puree and freeze most of it for use in foods later. Its way fun and healthy! I have info on what I do it you want it :-)
I think leaving to buy some things really can make you save. Also I will get married and Cristiano and I need to save money.
