It took some time to finally arrive, with some car troubles and what not, but it was a trip well worth taking! Lincoln was happy the entire time, thanks to Grandma Pearl and Aunt Alli.
CAPTIOL REEF
While visiting Capitol Reef Grandma couldn’t resist to buy Linc a little stuffed animal. Lincoln took this little Leopard EVERYWHERE he went during that trip! The first night of camp was a nice little spot in the National Park. Much to our dismay while out exploring we left the light on in the Durango that we borrowed from the English family. This left us to a dead battery. We decided that we would just go to sleep and see what we could figure out in the morning. That evening Alli and I both prayed for what we thought was an impossible miracle to happen (like the car just start working in the morning). We both said our personal prayer’s asking for this thinking…ok, I am sure this is not going to happen but, I will pray for it anyway. Linc and I slept in the back of the Durango that night and at about 3:00 AM the light turned on! I was shocked and felt like everything was going to work out fine. When we all woke up, after talking to the one camper that was in our same campground, she told us she would call the ranger station when she got phone service. So off she left. Derek started messing with the battery right after and the miracle happened! He got the car working! We were all so grateful and Alli and I were both humbled by the fact that we thought such Miracles wouldn’t happen. Anyway, here are the pictures from our time in Capitol Reef.
LAKE POWELL
On our way out of the Park to head towards Hellls Backbone Bridge, we realized we were not very far from Lake Powell and thought it would be fun to run over there, jump in the water, and then continue on. It was well worth it! Linc loved the water and so did his Momma! It was fun to look at the house boats as well and day dream about renting one some day.
HELL’S BACKBONE BRIDGE
On our way to Hell’s Backbone we came upon this awesome short Slot Canyon, it was beautiful! Alli is well known for always climbing to the highest point possible, so you we will see that as a recurring theme when she is hiking with us.
Hell’s Backbone Bridge is just a short little bridge but, pretty neat to drive on. Here are some pictures from the exploring we did that day near it.
CALF CREEK FALLS
After a cold nights rest for those in the tent (Mommy and Lincoln had the good spot in the Durango), we headed off to Calf Creek Falls for a 6 mile hike round trip. It was amazing and worth every second. Grandma Pearl was a good trooper and finished the hike as well.
We had a great time on this trip and so glad that Alli and Grandma Pearl joined us!
